The first question you might ask yourself when choosing a wedding photographer is usually what kind of style do I like? Sometimes it can be hard to know. Sometimes, you might know immediately. I love to shoot in an editorial style, but what does that mean for couples?
Well, if you’re wanting timeless photos and posing different from a traditional wedding feel, then editorial might be right for you. It’s a unique style that combines storytelling and fashion plus individuality to capture the ambiance of your wedding day. I love to be creative with this and oftentimes, it means putting emphasis on the same things that are important to you- the details, the colors, your shoes, your dress, and most importantly you as a couple. For me, this style tends to push the limits of romance and creativity while giving you those statement looks and timeless feel that you can look back on for years to come.
I want you to get that glam look while still feeling all those little intimate and memorable moments with your partner! I never ask my couples to be anything they’re not. I want you to be your authentic, beautiful self. I simply use their story to create a platform that is elevated, sophisticated, glamorous, romantic, and timeless.
I do use prompts and posing to help direct my clients so that they can feel empowered to look their best in front of my lens. That doesn’t mean I don’t like candids. I think of candids as more of intentional and timely photographs, and trust me, I’m always actively seeking these out! I will always place my clients in the proper lighting and environment to give their photos an elevated appeal.
Traditionally, editorial photography is similar to images that are shown in magazines and publications. A common trend example is the use of blurry photos to convey feeling and movement which I love. Think of documentary photos that set the scene and tell a story in a fashion-forward way. Maybe I am in the minority when I say this, but I believe documentary photos are very much part of an editorial photography style. This combination allows me to capture your personality and individual emotions in a creative way while still being true to natural occurring moments and “candids.”
If you’re reading this and thinking to yourself yes, that’s exactly what I had in mind, then an editorial wedding is for you!
